As hundreds of local students prepare for graduation, Newmarket's representative on the York Region District School Board is reflecting on how much has been accomplished as this academic year comes to a close.
"Congratulations to parents, students, our faculty and my colleagues at the school board," Trustee Martin Van Beek said. "This year has been filled with activity, excitement and of course, learning."
Mr. Van Beek noted that there have been both academic and extracurricular highlights for many students attending Newmarket schools, including Armitage Village PS, Terry Fox PS, Clearmeadow PS, and Sir William Mulock SS.
"I encourage those who are graduating in June to take the time to recognize and celebrate not only the learning that's reflected by your diploma, but to also recognize and celebrate all of the learning you have achieved beyond your textbooks," Mr. Van Beek said.
Mr. Van Beek sends his best wishes to all students who are moving on to high school, post secondary, or the workforce in September.
