After more than five years as principal of St. John Chrysostom elementary school on Joe Persechinni Drive, Corinne Santianni has decided to retire at the end of the school year.
The popular principal has been the head of the school since May 2012.
Mrs Santianni is very proud of St. John Crysostom School and the Town of Newmarket.
St. John Chrysostom is one of six Catholic elementary schools located in Newmarket.
"St. John Chrysostom is a special school. As you may have heard me say before, it is the jewel of the north! Our staff is dedicated and caring, as well as being excellent at delivering and supporting curriculum. Our students are amazing! They bring the life and curiosity and ideas that keep our school learning, active and humming!" Mrs. Santianni says.
When Mrs Santianni hands in her keys in June, she will be looking forward to spending more time with her family.
"I will miss my beautiful children the most. It has been my privilege to take care of them for just over four years. They make me happy. I have made connections with my awesome staff as well, and I will honestly keep in tough. I am hoping to be invited to any special events," she concludes.
However, her legacy as principal will continue, since hundreds of students have graduated St. John Chrysostom during her time with the school. As an educator, she knows that these graduates will always carry a little piece of her with them as they pursue their future goals.
