Referring to a number of neighbourhood issues, such as the Clock Tower development and Main Street business area, Newmarket Council members have decided today to send Ward 5 residents to the polls for an October 2016 by-election to fill the vacant Council seat.

Ward 5 includes the area surrounding Main Street and the area east of Yonge Street between Davis Drive and Mulock Drive.

In addition to the Clock Tower and Main Street businesses, issues facing this part of town include the VivaNext Bus Lane construction, the broad band internet project, the library, down town parking, heritage homes, high rise intensification, affordable housing especially for seniors, traffic speeds on residential streets, and our social safety net regarding local homelessness and food bank recipients.
